Normansfield was named after the solicitor, Norman Wilkinson, who helped acquire the land. The south wing was added in 1869 and the north wing was completed in 1873. In 1877 farm buildings were built. The 'Normansfield Large White' pigs became well known. In 1884 the boathouse was built. Rowing became a family tradition.

Several ghost stories were told when I was at Normansfield. Apparently one ghost is still around and can be spotted on the first floor at approx 6.30 pm. I am glad it did not pop up to Cedar while I was on duty!

Through my guestbook I was linked to Opacity who explore derelict and abandoned buildings. The response I've had through this website has been wonderful which I am very grateful for.
