Daycentre/Stella Brain/Pottery

Resident's Club

Most of the residents went to the daycentre, situated at the back of the grounds. Some residents went to the Resident's Club for tea or coffee and have a chat with other residents. They could also buy sweets, gifts and toiletries. The boutique was situated next to the Stella Brain School.
Lord Rix and Lady Brain formed the Friends of Normansfield in 1957 and funded several projects such as the hydrotherapy pool, the Resident's Club, Stella Brain School, and a holiday home called 'Bill House'. Lady (Stella) Brain is Dr. Langdon Down's granddaughter. Lord (Brian) Rix was a famous actor and became Secretary-General of Mencap in 1980. He is now president of Mencap.

Friends of Normansfield 50th jubilee
On the 8th of July 2007 the 'Friends of Normansfield' celebrated their 50th jubilee. Many residents came to join the party.
